In 2026, the prefabricated timber housing industry is undergoing a comprehensive digital manufacturing upgrade. The seamless integration of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machining has enabled timber component production to achieve millimeter-level precision, realizing fully digitalized management from design to installation and significantly improving both quality and efficiency in modular timber construction.
As the concept of Industry 4.0 continues to penetrate the construction sector, production methods for prefabricated timber houses are experiencing a fundamental transformation. The application of BIM is no longer limited to visual model presentation during the design phase; instead, it now extends throughout the entire project lifecycle, serving as the central data hub connecting design, manufacturing, logistics, and on-site assembly.
Leading prefabricated timber manufacturers have already achieved what is known as “BIM-driven production.” After designers complete 3D modeling on a BIM platform, the system can automatically generate machining codes for each timber component and transmit them directly to CNC production centers. Through high-precision cutting, drilling, and slotting, CNC equipment maintains processing tolerances within 0.5 millimeters for all structural components, including beams, columns, wall panels, and roof trusses.
